South College launches Educational Specialist degree program through Competency-Based Education
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE September 23, 2024
South College has announced the launch of its Educational Specialist (EdS) degree, which will be available through a Competency-Based Education (CBE) delivery. This innovative degree option fills the gap between a master’s and a doctoral degree, providing students with a path to educational advancement without having to complete a dissertation.
“We are thrilled to offer this new degree option to our students,” South College Chancellor Steve South said. “The Competency-Based Education delivery aligns with our commitment to provide innovative and accessible education. It allows students to evidence their current understanding and gain additional practical skills and knowledge in a unique way.”
South College’s CBE initiative offers a different approach to earning a degree. Instead of traditional term-based learning, students engage in a six-month subscription-based model. With no due dates and the convenience of online learning, students can work at their own pace, ensuring a personalized educational experience.
The flexible and cost-effective option is beneficial for individuals seeking to break into a new focus or advance professionally. This option has been well-received by students who appreciate the opportunity to achieve their educational goals while still preserving a work-life balance.
Enrollment for the EdS degree opened Sept. 1. South College invites aspiring professionals to take advantage of the opportunity to broaden their professional opportunities through the CBE program. For more information and to apply, visit south.edu.
