Our Teaching and Learning Post-Doctoral Certificate program is designed to equip current educators with enhanced knowledge of relevant research, instructional theories and strategies, and emerging technologies in the field. The courses give specific focus to curriculum mapping, curriculum design, and assessments that promote student-centered learning opportunities.
Consisting of 4 online courses, this competency-based program allows you to progress by demonstrating mastery of course content and competencies. Spend more time on topics that are new to you and move faster in areas where you have existing expertise. You’ll also have the chance to interact frequently with your instructors. To enroll in this certificate program, you must already have a doctoral degree.

Student Learning Outcomes
- Demonstrate the application of learning theories and supporting research to inform the development of appropriate methods to enhance student learning in a variety of settings.
- Analyze the theoretical perspective(s) on learning, knowing, and assessment that impact student outcomes addressing at least one of the following topics: knowledge, curricula theories, instructional methodologies, assessment, or research-based practices.
- Students will include how training and/or support will be provided to teachers in their researched, student-focused recommendations for the selected K-12 setting related to the Instructional Coaching based on through review of stakeholder input and/or data.
- Students will identify research that is age-specific to the learning environment being investigated, relates to the primary focus on the identified area of need, and is applicable to the solution being recommended.
- Students will use theoretical knowledge to support the described implementation of the recommendations related to the learning environment in the strategic planning.
Admission Requirements
Applicants must provide a completed South College application for admission and application to the program. Those selected for admission will provide evident of a completed doctoral degree from an accredited institution of higher education with a minimum grade point average (CPA) of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale.Accreditation
The South College Bachelor of Science in Teacher Education – Elementary (K-5) program and the Master of Education Elementary Education (K-5) Initial Licensure program offered at the Knoxville campus are approved by the Tennessee Department of Education.

What is the tuition for South College?
Tuition and fees for South College students vary by program, and tuition rates are tiered based on the number of credits taken each quarter. For example, in our undergraduate programs, students taking 10-20 credits per quarter are charged one quarterly tuition rate based on their program, while students in the same program taking 1-5 or 6-9 credits are charged different tuition rates. Our tuition rates are designed such that South College students who take a high number of credits per quarter may be able to complete their program at a lower total cost than students who take fewer credits per quarter. Our expansive online study and hybrid options allow our students to learn wherever they are located, and often with the flexibility of their own convenient time. More InfoDoes South College accept Transfer Students?
Yes! Credit for transfer work may be given if it was taken at an accredited collegiate institution, if it is equivalent to courses offered at South College, and if it carries a grade of C or better. Any coursework taken over seven years ago may be denied transfer credit if the material is outdated. Policies for the acceptance of any graduate level transfer credit are determined by the associated program faculty within guidelines determined by the institution.
