South College Atlanta’s Bachelor of Science in Nursing program earns Full Approval by Georgia Board of Nursing
South College Atlanta has been granted Full Approval for its Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) program by the Georgia Board of Nursing.
The board cited the average score of the first three graduating cohorts on the National Council Licensure Examination (NCLEX-RN), as well as South College’s compliance with all rules and regulations, in its approval.
“Upon thorough review by the Georgia Board of Nursing, South College Atlanta’s BSN program has Full Approval,” said Josh Huffaker, president of South College Atlanta. “The bar is set high, and reaching this goal is a testament to the staff and instructors who have supported our initial cohorts and to the students for their commitment to the program. We aim to have a substantial impact in nursing and healthcare education, and this vote by the board reflects that we’re reaching benchmarks toward that goal.”
The Georgia Board of Nursing protects, promotes, and preserves the public health, safety, and welfare through legislative regulation and control of practical nursing and registered professional education and practice. The board granted the program Initial Approval in September 2018, and the latest decision ensures that the program is operating within the high standards set by the board.
“This great accomplishment would not have been possible without the hard work and dedication of our students, faculty, staff, and leadership,” Associate Dean of Nursing Trina Rodgers said.
Students in the BSN program work to build a strong academic foundation and learn fundamental skills required of a nurse generalist, including the basics of medical care, critical thinking, interpersonal skills, and technical competence required for taking the NCLEX-RN exam.
South College Atlanta offers many healthcare programs from certificate to master’s levels across several disciplines and is now accepting applications for the next BSN cohort, which starts in January.
South College students who qualify for financial aid have access to a range of programs as do members of the U.S. military, veterans, and their families. The institution offers both student and career services. For more information about South College Atlanta, please call 470-322-1200 or visit south.edu.
