South College opens new campus in Orlando, Florida
South College has opened a new campus in Orlando, Florida, and class enrollment is now open.
South College is a multi-campus institution, founded in Knoxville, Tennessee, in 1882. The college offers 80-plus programs and concentrations taught at seven physical campuses and online.
“We are ready to serve Central Florida from our new campus in Orlando, and we thank the community for a warm welcome,” South College Chancellor Stephen A. South said. “South College has a successful track record of offering career-driven education in relevant fields to help students and communities thrive. That’s why we are focusing our launch on providing health professions programs to serve the demand for work-ready healthcare professionals in this area and look forward to expanding in the future.”
Located at 6649 Westwood Blvd, South College Orlando initially will offer eight programs with more to come, including Associate of Science in Health Science; Associate of Science in Health Science (Pre-Nursing); Associate of Science in Health Science (Pre-Pharmacy); Bachelor of Science in Health Science; Bachelor of Science in Health Science (Pre-Physical Therapy); Bachelor of Science in Health Science (Pre-Physician Assistant); Associate of Science in Medical Assisting Advanced; and Certificate in Medical Assisting Specialist.
Jim McCoy serves as campus president in Orlando.
“Our goals are to foster students to set them on a path to achieve their goals, spark a desire for lifelong learning, hone critical thinking, and prioritize serving others,” McCoy said. “Serving Orlando and Central Florida with our proven programs and encouraging culture, combined with our well-equipped, inviting facilities, is a great way to help fill area workforce needs. We’re glad to get started.”
South College Orlando students have access to a range of financial aid programs for those who qualify, as well as student and career services. School leaders also will pursue and develop local community partnerships and Federal Work-Study partners in the area to help students in educational endeavors.
