South College Pittsburgh partners with Allegheny Health Network and Pirates Charities to bring AHN Chill Mobile™ to on-campus, online students
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE October 7, 2024
South College Pittsburgh has teamed up with Allegheny Health Network (AHN) and the Pittsburgh Pirates to bring AHN Chill Project™ and its mobile mental health resources to the college’s on-campus and online students.
This collaboration marks the first time that AHN’s Chill Mobile™, an RV-based mindfulness and mental health program that is part of the larger Chill Project™ initiative, will be available at a higher education institution. Chill Mobile™ was created by AHN and Pirates Charities.
From Oct. 7-11, 2024, Chill Mobile™ mental health resources and support services will be offered to South College Pittsburgh students. The initiative will return for additional sessions Feb. 3-7 and April 14-18 in 2025.
The series called “Mobile Minds” kicked off today as Pittsburgh Pirates in-game host Joe Klimchak led local healthcare professionals in a panel discussion, destigmatizing mental health and sharing how they practice mindfulness. Students were invited to ask questions and share their experiences. The panel was followed with tours of the Chill Mobile™ RV, which serves as a calming space for students to engage in evidence-based coping skills and practical, interactive experiences.
“We are excited to be the first higher education institution to welcome Chill Mobile™,” South College Pittsburgh President Anne Petrella said. “Mental health plays a major part in students’ success, and we are proud to support the well-being of our on-campus and online students with the help of AHN and the Pittsburgh Pirates.”
AHN Chill Project™ uses mindfulness-based exercises to equip individuals with skills to handle stress and anxiety. Participating schools have experienced reduced behavioral health incidents and increased access to mental health resources for students, educators and families.
“By bringing AHN Chill Mobile™ to South College Pittsburgh, we are redefining what mental health support looks like in higher education,” said William C. Davies, Ed.D., founder and director of AHN Chill Project™. “At each weeklong session, students will gain practical tools to manage stress and build resilience, helping them thrive academically and personally.”
